Response commitment
We acknowledge every written warranty claim within ten business days, and where an inspection is needed we schedule it within twenty business days of that acknowledgment.
NW Iron Works, Inc. (“NW Iron Works”) warrants the products it fabricates and installs — steel railings, glass railings, cable railings, floating staircases, gates, and residential structural steel — against defects in materials and workmanship under normal use and service conditions, for the periods and on the terms set out below. This warranty is subject to the conditions, limitations, and exclusions stated on this page, and applies to work contracted on or after September 15, 2026.
Who is covered
This warranty covers the original purchaser of the product and the original installation at the project address identified in the contract.
Where NW Iron Works contracts with a general contractor, builder, or other intermediary, this warranty transfers one time, automatically and at no cost, to the owner of the property at the project address. That owner may submit a warranty claim directly to NW Iron Works.
This warranty does not transfer to any subsequent owner of the property, and does not follow the product if it is removed from its original installation, unless NW Iron Works agrees otherwise in writing.
When coverage begins
All warranty periods begin on the date of substantial completion of NW Iron Works’ scope of work, or the date of delivery where NW Iron Works does not perform the installation, whichever occurs first.
Repair or replacement of a defective product or component does not restart or extend the original warranty period unless NW Iron Works expressly agrees otherwise in writing.
Ten-year structural warranty
NW Iron Works warrants that metal products it fabricates and installs will remain free from structural defects for a period of ten (10) years under normal use and service conditions.
For purposes of this warranty, a structural defect is a defect that materially affects the strength, stability, load-carrying capacity, or intended structural function of the product — including failure of a weld, connection, or fastening performed by NW Iron Works, and defects in the steel or other structural material supplied by NW Iron Works.
This warranty does not cover normal wear and tear, misuse, abuse, accidents, alterations, modifications, improper maintenance, environmental conditions beyond normal use, or damage caused by other trades, contractors, owners, occupants, or third parties. See Section 12 for the full list of exclusions.
Metal finish warranty
4.1 Premium powder coat finish — 5 years
Metal products finished with a premium-grade powder coating specified by NW Iron Works and applied by its approved coating applicator carry a five (5) year finish warranty under normal use and service conditions.
This warranty covers significant finish failure, peeling or loss of adhesion, premature deterioration caused by coating failure, corrosion resulting directly from coating failure, and excessive fading beyond normal expectations for the selected finish.
This warranty does not cover damage caused by impact, scratching, abrasion, vandalism, chemicals, pressure washing, improper cleaning, salt or chemical exposure beyond normal environmental conditions, or modifications made after installation.
Normal changes in color, gloss, texture, or appearance resulting from exposure to sunlight and weather are not considered finish defects.
4.2 Standard powder coat finish — 1 year
Metal products finished with a standard-grade powder coat carry a one (1) year finish warranty under normal use and service conditions.
This warranty covers finish adhesion failure and coating defects attributable to the manufacturing or application process.
This warranty does not cover damage caused by impact, scratching, abrasion, vandalism, improper cleaning, chemicals, environmental exposure, or normal weathering.
4.3 304 brushed stainless steel — 5 years interior / 1 year exterior
304 stainless steel with a brushed finish is warranted for five (5) years in interior applications and one (1) year in exterior applications, subject to the conditions below.
This warranty covers defects in the finish, and structural corrosion attributable to a manufacturing defect.
For purposes of this warranty, corrosion means permanent deterioration of the metal that materially compromises its structural integrity. Surface-level oxidation, staining, discoloration, tea staining, or contamination that can be removed through appropriate cleaning or maintenance is not structural corrosion and is not covered.
Regular cleaning and maintenance are required to preserve stainless steel finishes. See Section 8.
Glass warranty
NW Iron Works warrants that glass it supplies and installs will be delivered and installed free from visible chips, cracks, scratches, or other damage attributable to NW Iron Works’ handling or installation. A claim under this paragraph must be made in writing within thirty (30) days of installation. Visible damage reported after that period is presumed to have occurred after NW Iron Works left the site.
Laminated glass is warranted against delamination for five (5) years from installation.
Where glass is manufactured by a third party, coverage for manufacturing defects is subject to that manufacturer’s warranty. Specialty coatings, including hydrophobic and easy-clean coatings, are warranted only for the period provided by the coating manufacturer.
Tempered glass is not warranted against breakage resulting from impact, thermal stress, building movement, improper use, spontaneous breakage caused by nickel sulfide inclusions, or any other condition outside NW Iron Works’ control.
Glass warranties do not cover damage occurring after installation from impact, misuse, improper cleaning, construction activities, settlement, building movement, or other third-party causes.
Installation & workmanship warranty — 2 years
NW Iron Works provides a two (2) year labor and workmanship warranty on fabrication and installation performed directly by NW Iron Works.
This warranty covers non-structural defects in workmanship directly attributable to NW Iron Works’ fabrication or installation — including fit, alignment, squareness, cosmetic weld quality, and the seating or mounting of hardware and components.
This warranty does not cover normal wear and tear, damage caused by misuse or abuse, damage caused by other contractors or trades, building settlement or movement, structural movement not caused by NW Iron Works, improper maintenance, modifications or repairs performed by others, acts of nature, accidental or impact damage, corrosion resulting from environmental conditions, or deterioration caused by exposure to chemicals, salt, or other contaminants.
Which warranty applies
Where a defect could fall under more than one section of this warranty:
- A defect that compromises the strength, stability, or load-carrying capacity of the product is governed by the ten-year structural warranty, regardless of whether its cause is the material, the fabrication, or the installation.
- A defect that affects appearance, fit, or finish, but not structural performance, is governed by the applicable finish warranty or the two-year workmanship warranty.
Maintenance requirements
Proper maintenance is required for all exterior metal products.
The owner is responsible for routine cleaning and maintenance, including removing dirt, salt, chemicals, pollutants, and other contaminants that may accumulate on the metal or finish.
Failure to properly maintain the product may void the applicable finish and corrosion warranties.
NW Iron Works will provide written, product-specific maintenance instructions at project closeout, covering the material and finish selected for the project. Following those instructions is a condition of finish and corrosion coverage.
Modifications and repairs
This warranty does not cover products that have been modified, repaired, cut, drilled, welded, refinished, relocated, or otherwise altered by anyone other than NW Iron Works without prior written authorization.
Any unauthorized modification may void the applicable warranty.
Warranty claims
All warranty claims must be submitted in writing to:
NW Iron Works, Inc.Attn: Warranty Claims
7507 NE 47th Ave, Vancouver, WA 98661
Ruben@nwironworks.com
A claim must be submitted within thirty (30) days of discovering the defect, and in all cases before the applicable warranty period expires.
The claim must include:
- Customer name and contact information
- Project address
- Date of installation or delivery
- A description of the alleged defect
- Photographs of the affected area
- Any relevant maintenance or repair records
NW Iron Works will acknowledge a written warranty claim within ten (10) business days of receipt. Where an inspection is required, NW Iron Works will schedule that inspection within twenty (20) business days of acknowledgment, subject to site access and reasonable weather conditions.
NW Iron Works reserves the right to inspect the product or installation, and to have the site made reasonably accessible for that inspection, before determining whether a claim is covered.
Warranty remedy
If NW Iron Works determines that a product is covered by this warranty, NW Iron Works will, at its option, repair the defective product, replace the defective product or component, or provide another reasonable remedy.
The warranty remedy is limited to the repair or replacement of the defective product or workmanship.
Unless NW Iron Works specifically agrees otherwise in writing, NW Iron Works is not responsible for costs associated with removal, replacement, access, scaffolding, consequential repairs, repainting, reinstallation, or other costs incurred by the owner or third parties.

Third-party materials

NW Iron Works will reasonably assist the customer in pursuing a valid third-party warranty claim, but does not extend a warranty beyond that provided by the original manufacturer unless expressly stated in writing.
This section does not limit Section 4. NW Iron Works warrants the powder coat finishes described in Sections 4.1 and 4.2 directly, for the periods stated, whether the coating was applied in-house or by an approved coating applicator.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, NW Iron Works’ obligation under this warranty is limited to the repair or replacement of the defective product or workmanship.
NW Iron Works shall not be responsible for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from a warranty claim unless otherwise required by applicable law.
This warranty gives the customer specific legal rights, and the customer may have additional rights under applicable state or local law.
